The New American Commentary assumes the inerrancy of Scripture, focuses on the intrinsic theological and exegetical concerns of each biblical book, and engages the range of issues raised in contemporary biblical scholarship. In Ephesians Paul encouraged the church, the body of Christ, "built" from saved Jews and Gentiles, to conduct herself in a manner consistent with her calling to unity in Christ Jesus. Saved Jews and Gentiles are a holy temple fitted together and "growing." They are a corporate new man, a living body being "built."
