The Hermès Pierres d'Orient et d'Occident scarf, designed by Zoé Pauwels in 1988, is a celebration of both Eastern and Western influences, inspired by intricate inlaid tabletops. It features a harmonious blend of flowers, birds, and arabesques, symbolizing the connection between nature and culture.

The scarf's design is rooted in the elaborate French Baroque style, specifically referencing the art of stone marquetry, which was popular in Renaissance Italy.
