The ASUS RP-AC55 is a wireless range extender that works with the AC1200 standard to push your existing Wi-Fi 5 signal farther into your home or office. Plug it into any wall outlet and it immediately starts filling dead zones, so upstairs bedrooms, garages, or backyard work areas can enjoy the same stable connection you get near the router.
It operates on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, delivering a combined speed of up to 1167 Mb/s. Everyday browsing and smart-home devices can stay on 2.4 GHz, while streaming, gaming, or large file transfers can take advantage of the faster 5 GHz band. Two external antennas help the signal travel longer distances and maintain better quality through walls and floors.
Placement is simple. A row of front-facing LEDs shows how strong the link to your router is, so you can move the extender until you see the best reading. Once positioned, press the WPS button on the router and then on the RP-AC55 to connect in seconds. If you prefer manual control, you can use the ASUS Extender mobile app or set it up through a wired Ethernet connection.
The Ethernet port also opens two extra modes. In Access Point mode, the RP-AC55 turns a wired network port into a new wireless hotspot. In Media Bridge mode, it lets devices such as smart TVs or game consoles that lack built-in Wi-Fi join the network through a short cable.
