The ASUS THUNDERBOLTEX 5 is a PCIe 4.0 expansion card that upgrades a desktop with two Thunderbolt 5 ports, opening the door to ultrafast storage, high-resolution displays, and single-cable docking. Once seated in an available x4 slot, the card delivers up to 120 Gb/s of bandwidth per port, so editing 8K footage from an external SSD or streaming large design files to a Thunderbolt RAID feels as responsive as working from internal drives.

Each USB-C connection also supplies up to 96 W of charging power, with 130 W available in total. That capacity allows a laptop, tablet, or phone to charge while it exchanges data, reducing cable clutter and freeing outlets around the workspace.

Three Mini DisplayPort inputs route signals from the graphics card to the Thunderbolt ports, enabling support for as many as three 8K monitors at 60 Hz through DisplayPort 2.1 with DSC. Whether you are color grading footage, analyzing complex data sets, or building an expansive trading desk, the card keeps images sharp and stutter-free.

An Intel JHL9580 controller manages the heavy data traffic and permits daisy chaining of up to five Thunderbolt devices on each port. Docks, audio interfaces, and external GPUs can sit in series, letting studios reconfigure gear quickly without reaching behind the tower.

Installation takes only a few minutes. Insert the card, connect the supplied USB 2.0 and Thunderbolt headers, and attach a standard 6-pin PCIe power cable. After the Windows 11 64-bit driver is in place, the system is ready for next-generation peripherals and displays.

For creators, engineers, and enthusiasts who want leading-edge connectivity without a full system rebuild, the ThunderboltEX 5 provides a straightforward, reliable path to more speed, more power, and more screens.
